Employee spotlight: Lisa Hunter

Tell us a bit about yourself. Where did you grow up?

“I grew up in Zachary, Louisiana and moved to Redmond in 4th grade. We lived there for the next 7 years and then my family packed up and moved to Arizona. I attended college at the University of Arizona studying MIS and Marketing.

How is it being a female in the IT Director role?

“It allows me to have a unique perspective. Being in a male dominant industry throughout my career has really allowed me to grow and provide a female voice. It’s good to have different perspectives when coming up with innovative ideas.”

How long have you worked for Prisma Graphic?

“I started out as a contractor in August of 2010 and was then hired on as the Director of Technology, Business Solutions. Currently I am the Director of Technology which incorporates Business and Information Solutions.”

What are some changes in the tech industry, focusing on print and marketing?

“The tech industry is evolving and changing on a continual basis. Print is a more established industry that is still learning how to merge with technology; print companies need technology to be quicker, more efficient, and cost focused. The use of advanced software from logistics to CRM has impacted this industry and it is increasingly becoming more and more important to stay in front of technology.”

What are your responsibilities as the Director of Technology?

“I manage teams that work on our infrastructure, security, hardware, and software development. I also oversee our support systems, PACE, Printstream, DokShop, and ACT, which are the systems that manage the supply chain of projects and manage our client database.”

What do you like most about Prisma Graphic?

“Over the years I have worked with various large corporations and a common theme among them was how long it took to get projects approved and implemented. Working for Prisma, the process is much faster and I can actually see the results of my decisions; whether it has a positive impact or one that still needs work.”

What do you look forward to most about coming to work every day?

“I like working with the people here. Everyone works so hard and they are all gifted in their department. Seeing people put in 110% effort every day inspires me to do the same.”

What would you most love to be doing in 10 years?

“Hmm, that is hard to say because I would like to keep growing and learning in my role. I guess all I can say is ten years ago I had hoped to be in the position I am in today.”

Tell about some of your interests/hobbies outside Prisma? What’s something most people don’t know about you?

“I have 3 kids, a 4 year old, 6 and 9. In my free time I like to play tennis, and occasionally workout with Bob a few times a week. All my family lives in Arizona so we like to get together and do things with our extended family. Other than that a lot of my time is spent being involved with my kid’s sports, school work and trying out new interesting restaurants.”

What or who inspires you?

“I really enjoy facing a good challenge. Being presented with an issue that is outside my reach and figuring a way to solve the challenge is great, provides me with a sense of accomplishment.”

Favorite vacation spot?

“I enjoy going to Pinetop with the family. My in-laws have a cabin up there and we like to spend some quality time together.”

Are you active in any clubs and/or organizations? Please tell us about that involvement.

“I am involved with the school my kids attend and I am involved in their sports, baseball and swim.”

What do you most enjoy about technology?

“I enjoy the new advances and there is never a dull moment with software and solutions being born every day. The changes are exciting; it opens up new opportunities and avenues.”

What is your biggest pet peeve in the tech industry?

“I can’t stand when software companies release their software without fully testing it and analyzing it closely. It creates more work for their clients and slows down the implementation process. Software companies should commit to putting out a quality product every time they release something new.”
