Cox Communications Business
Customer Appreciation Packaging Campaign

The Cox Box

Packaging is no longer viewed as a vehicle to simply deliver items. Whether used as Executive Door Openers (EDO), new client welcome kits or hiring boxes, packaging has increasingly become a way for companies to communicate their message. With a stronger emphasis being placed on the box itself, companies continue to look for ways to “wow” recipients with a creative edge, high-quality stocks, and impactful finishes.

That’s precisely why Cox Communications Business approached our team, looking for a way to say “thanks” to top-tier customers. Interested in more than just a cookie-cutter box, Cox wanted to deliver a keepsake package that showcased their innovative and technologically-driven brand.

Bringing big ideas to life

Prisma’s tried and true methodology began with gaining a deeper understanding of Cox’s core values and mission. From there, Prisma’s marketing team, Three60, translated these findings into three packaging concepts that encompassed the brand. These mood boards highlighted different capabilities, like foiling and embossing, and a variety of packaging designs unique to this campaign. Cox’s marketing team was able to mix and match aspects from each that, when combined, made the perfect statement at just the right budget.

“I wanted to say thank you so much for everything you have done on this project,
our team loves them and you guys were great to work with!”

The chosen concept

The final layout included a modern, interconnected high-gloss design that flows seamlessly across folds. To play on their connected messaging, we included a subtle but stunning nod to the USB.

In addition to looking beautiful, this box needed to be user-friendly. So, after narrowing down the design it was up to our packaging engineers to bring it to life. We developed a way to cleanly display their branded items that wouldn’t take away from the design by utilizing carefully crafted cut-outs. This not only held and hid excess wires, but also ensured promotional items wouldn’t shift during shipping or handling.

From concept and production to fulfillment, our team was able to bring Cox’s message to life, and deliver the unexpected.
